ここは、富士五湖のひとつ——本栖湖。
この日、空は低い雲に覆われ、富士山の頂はついに姿を現しませんでした。
それでも、雲の隙間から差し込んだ朝の光が、ふっと雲を朱に染める瞬間があったのです。
きっと多くの人は、こんな曇天ではもう望みはないと、早々に引き上げてしまったことでしょう。
けれど、ボクにはそれができません。
何度も、何度も、失敗してきたからこそわかるんです。
「もうダメだ」と思ってカメラをしまいかけた、その直後に、奇跡のように雲が割れ、
想像を超える光景が広がる——そんな瞬間に何度も出会ってきました。
だから、たとえ空がどんなに重たくても、ボクはまず撮りきることを選びます。
この先の10分が、どんな風景になるかなんて、誰にもわからないのだから。
This is one of the Fuji Five Lakes—Lake Motosu-ko.
On this day, low clouds blanketed the sky, and the summit of Mt. Fuji never revealed itself.
Even so, when the morning sun pierced through the gaps in the clouds, it gently tinged them with hues of crimson.
Most people would likely have packed up and left, thinking there was no hope on such a cloudy day.
But I couldn’t bring myself to leave.
Because I’ve failed too many times before—noticing too late.
Just when I thought it was over and started putting away my camera,
the clouds would suddenly part, and a breathtaking scene would unfold before me.
Moments like that have happened again and again.
That’s why, no matter how heavy the sky may seem, I always try to shoot until the end.
Because the landscape ten minutes from now—no one can predict it.
