ここは香川県小豆島の南部にある三都（みと）半島の神浦（こうのうら）。瀬戸内国際芸術祭2022の作品「ダイダラウルトラボウ」（伊東敏光＋広島市立大学）。
This is Kounoura on the Mito Peninsula in the southern part of Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture. Daidaraultrabou” (Toshimitsu Ito + Hiroshima City University), a work for the Setouchi International Art Festival 2022.
「日本の山河を造ってきた巨人、次を構想し、しばし休憩する」というコンセプトで集落や海を見下ろしているよ。
神浦集落の道路の拡幅工事で取り払われた小石の石垣や廃船となった船底、そして瀬戸内海で集めた流木を組み合わせて、大宇宙や自然界と人間社会とをつなぐためのアイコンとしての巨人を造ったそうです。
I am looking down on the village and the sea with the concept of “giants who have built Japan’s mountains and rivers, envisioning what is next, and taking a break for a while.
The giant is said to have been created as an icon to connect the macrocosm or natural world with human society by combining pebble stone walls removed by road widening in the village of Kounoura, the bottom of an abandoned ship, and driftwood collected in the Seto Inland Sea.
巨人というだけに、その大きさにびっくり、そして、休憩しているという格好に見惚れてしまったよ。
ここからダイダラウルトラボウは何を見ているのか？どんな構想を練っているのか？
今日は夕日が正面に沈みそうなので、ダイダラウルトラボウと一緒に眺めながら、考えることにしたよ。
I was amazed at the sheer size of the giants, and I was fascinated by the way they were dressed, resting.
What is Daidaraultrabou looking at from here? What kind of plans are they making?
The sun is about to set in front of us today, so I decided to think about it as I watched with Daidaraultrabou.
