ここは、富士山の真西に位置する田貫湖。
田貫湖から眺める富士山は真東に位置するため、夜明けの風景がとても美しい場所です。
富士山の山頂から朝日が昇る「ダイヤモンド富士」の撮影地としても広く知られています。
撮影したのは4月14日。
あと一週間ほど遅ければ、ダイヤモンド富士を見ることができる時期でした。
もう一度、この絶景に出会えるのは8月20日頃から25日頃。
近年は駐車場に車を停めることも難しいほど多くの人が訪れるため、ボクは少し時期を外して訪れるようにしています。
この日の主役は、空いっぱいに広がる雲でした。
羊雲のような高い雲が富士山の上空をゆっくりと流れ、夜明け前の深いブルーの空と織りなす色合いは、今でも鮮明に記憶に残っています。
やがて東の空がゆっくりと白み始めると、それまで静かだった森から鳥たちの囀りが一斉に響き始めます。
「ああ、朝が来た。」
そんな瞬間を、耳でも感じることができました。
田貫湖は一周およそ3km。
霊峰・富士山を眺めながら、ゆっくりと湖畔を歩く時間も、この場所ならではの贅沢な楽しみ方です。
ここに美しき日本があります。

This is Lake Tanuki, located directly west of Mt. Fuji.
From the shores of Lake Tanuki, Mt. Fuji stands due east, making it one of the finest places to experience sunrise.
It is also well known as one of Japan’s most famous locations for viewing the “Diamond Fuji” phenomenon, when the sun rises directly from the summit of the mountain.
This footage was filmed on April 14.
Had I visited about a week later, I would have been able to witness Diamond Fuji.
There is another opportunity each year, around August 20 to 25.
In recent years, however, the area has become so popular during those periods that even finding a parking space is difficult, so I prefer to visit at quieter times.
On this morning, it was the clouds that stole the show.
High, sheep-like clouds drifted gently above Mt. Fuji, and the deep blue sky before dawn, together with their subtle colors, has remained one of my strongest memories of that morning.
As the eastern sky slowly began to brighten, birds all around the lake burst into song at once.
It was the unmistakable feeling that a new day had arrived.
Lake Tanuki is about 3 kilometers in circumference.
Taking a leisurely walk around the lake while gazing at the sacred Mt. Fuji is one of the simple pleasures this place offers.
