ここは奄美大島、龍郷町の戸口。
梅雨明け直後。
真っ青な海と空、そして真っ白な雲。
もう少し季節が進めば、空にはモクモクと積乱雲が湧き上がることでしょう。
今回は珍しく、真昼の光の中で撮ってみました。
この海を眺めていると、不思議と心がふわりと軽くなります。
何億年も前から変わらない地球の風景を見ているような気がするからでしょうか。
それとも、ゆっくりと積み重ねられてきた時間の豊かさを感じるからでしょうか。
日々の暮らしの中では目の前のことばかり考えてしまいますが、 たまには少し離れた場所から、自分を眺めてみることも大切なのかもしれません。
そして、あの水平線の向こうに何があるのだろうと想像してみることも。
海は、いろいろなことを考えさせてくれます。
同時に、何も考えなくてもいい時間も与えてくれます。
そんな風景の中に身を置けることが、 今はただ、幸せだなと思う今日この頃です。
ここに美しき日本があります。

This is Toguchi, a small coastal area in Tatsugo Town on Amami Oshima.
Just after the end of the rainy season, the sea is a brilliant blue, the sky is crystal clear, and white clouds drift peacefully overhead.
A little later in the season, towering summer clouds will begin to fill the sky.
This time, I chose to film in the bright midday light—something I rarely do.
Whenever I look out over this sea, my heart somehow feels lighter.
Perhaps it’s because this landscape has remained unchanged for millions of years.
Or perhaps it’s because I can sense the richness of time that has quietly accumulated here.
In our daily lives, it’s easy to focus only on what’s right in front of us.
But sometimes, it’s important to step back and look at ourselves from a little farther away.
And perhaps it’s just as important to wonder what lies beyond that distant horizon.
The sea invites us to think about many things.
At the same time, it gently gives us permission to think about nothing at all.
These days, I simply feel grateful to be able to become part of a landscape like this.
