ここは山梨県富士川町高下（たかおり）地区。
年末から年始にかけて、この場所では富士山の山頂から太陽が昇る「ダイヤモンド富士」を見ることができます。
この時期になると、テレビ番組でもたびたび紹介される富士本栖湖リゾートの竜神池や、竜ヶ岳の途中にある展望あずまや、そして竜ヶ岳越しに富士山を望む高下地区。
年末年始はダイヤモンド富士を見に多くの観光客で大混雑です。
混雑が苦手なボクは、元旦を避けて1月2日に訪れました。
しかし、この日は雲が多く、残念ながらダイヤモンド富士を見ることができませんでした。
そこで2日後の1月4日に再びこの地へ。
太陽の位置は少しずれていましたが、冬の澄んだ空気の中で、富士山の頂から昇る美しい朝日と出会うことができました。
詩人であり彫刻家でもあった 高村光太郎 は、この地を訪れた際に
「私は富士の名所を多く尋ねたが、こんな立派な富士は初めて仰いだ」
と感嘆したと伝えられています。
雄大な富士山と、新しい一日の始まりを告げる光。
宇宙から届く光が、富士山を一年で最も美しく輝かせる季節ですね。
ここに美しき日本があります。

Here is Takaoori, a district in Fujikawa.
From late December to early January, this is one of the places where you can witness the famous “Diamond Fuji” phenomenon, when the sun rises directly from the summit of Mount Fuji.
During this season, many visitors gather to photograph Diamond Fuji at well-known viewpoints such as Ryujin Pond at Fuji Motosuko Resort, the observation gazebo along the trail to Mt. Ryugatake, and here in the Takaoori district, where Mt. Fuji can be seen beyond the ridgeline of Mt. Ryugatake.
The area becomes extremely crowded during the New Year holidays. Since I prefer quieter conditions, I visited on January 2 instead of New Year’s Day. Unfortunately, thick clouds covered the summit, and I was unable to see Diamond Fuji.
So I returned two days later, on January 4.
Although the position of the sun had shifted slightly, I was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise emerging from the summit of Mt. Fuji in the clear winter air.
It is said that the poet and sculptor Kotaro Takamura visited this area and remarked:
“I have visited many famous places to view Mt. Fuji, but I have never seen such a magnificent Fuji before.”
The grandeur of Mt. Fuji and the light that announces the beginning of a new day.
This is the season when light arriving from the depths of the universe makes Mt. Fuji shine at its most beautiful.
