ここは神奈川県・湯河原町。
場所としては、箱根の南東に位置する山の上。
眼下には相模灘が広がり、夜明け前の空と海が静かに色を変えていきます。
撮影したのは、2025年の大晦日前、12月30日の朝。
冷たい風が容赦なく吹き抜け、体温を奪っていくような厳しい寒さでした。
けれど、その寒さの向こうで、海と空が言葉にならない色に染まり始めていました。
深い群青から淡いオレンジへ。
海、空、大地のグラデーションがゆっくりと重なり合い、まるで新しい光が生まれる瞬間を見ているようでした。
やがて太陽が昇ると、光は海を照らし、空を染め、大地を温め、そして冷え切った頬や身体にも静かに熱を届けてくれます。
この映像を公開する頃、日本は梅雨の入口。
5月にはすでに猛暑日が観測され、今年の夏も厳しい暑さになりそうです。
不思議なもので、そんな季節になると、あの冬の刺すような寒さや、凍える夜明け前の空気が恋しくなります。
寒さの中にしか存在しない、美しい光の時間。
湯河原のてっぺん、箱根から見た夜明け前の風景です。
ここに美しき日本があります。

This is Yugawara Town in Kanagawa Prefecture.
More precisely, a mountaintop area on the southeastern side of Hakone.
Below spreads Sagami Bay, where the sea and sky quietly shift colors before dawn.
This footage was captured on the morning of December 30, 2025, just before New Year’s Eve.
A piercing wind swept relentlessly across the mountain, stealing away body heat in the bitter cold.
Yet beyond that cold, the sea and sky slowly began to glow with colors beyond words.
From deep indigo to soft orange,
the gradients of sea, sky, and earth slowly merged together, as if witnessing the birth of a new light.
As the sun finally rose, its rays illuminated the sea, colored the sky, warmed the land, and gently brought heat back to my frozen cheeks and body.
By the time this video is released, Japan will be entering the rainy season.
Already in May, the first extremely hot days of the year have been recorded, and this summer also seems destined to bring intense heat.
Strangely enough, during seasons like this, I find myself longing for that piercing winter cold and the freezing air just before dawn.
A beautiful moment of light that exists only within the cold.
This is the pre-dawn landscape seen from the heights of Yugawara and Hakone.
