ここは福井県高浜町にある若狭和田ビーチ。
目の前には「若狭富士」と呼ばれる青葉山がそびえ立ち、その美しい稜線と広がる海の景色に、思わず息を呑みました。海には大小さまざまな形をした巨岩が点在し、見ているだけで心が躍ります。
この日は風が強く、雲がどんどん流れていきました。まるで空を駆け巡る「雲の軍団」のようで、その変化する姿に魅了され、いつまでも見続けていたくなりました。
ふと、「若狭富士」のように全国にはどれほどの「〇〇富士」があるのだろうと調べてみると、その数は300以上。蝦夷富士（北海道・羊蹄山）、讃岐富士（香川・飯野山）、薩摩富士（鹿児島・開聞岳）など、各地で親しまれていることを知りました。どれもその土地のシンボル的な存在であり、やはり富士山は日本人にとって特別な存在なのだと改めて感じます。これらの「〇〇富士」を撮るっていうのも面白いかもしれませんね。
This is Wakasa Wada Beach, located in Takahama Town, Fukui Prefecture.
Right before my eyes stands Aobayama, also known as “Wakasa Fuji,” with its beautiful ridgeline stretching across the horizon. The breathtaking scenery of the mountain and the vast ocean left me in awe. The sea is dotted with massive rocks of various shapes and sizes, making for an endlessly fascinating view.
That day, strong winds swept through the area, sending clouds rushing across the sky. It was as if an army of clouds was marching overhead, constantly shifting and transforming. I was utterly captivated by their movement and could have watched them forever.
Curious about how many other “○○ Fuji” mountains exist in Japan, I did some research and discovered that there are over 300. Names like Ezo Fuji (Mt. Yotei in Hokkaido), Sanuki Fuji (Mt. Iino in Kagawa), and Satsuma Fuji (Mt. Kaimon in Kagoshima) stood out as beloved symbols of their respective regions. Each of these mountains holds a special place in its local landscape, reinforcing the idea that Mt. Fuji is truly an iconic presence for the Japanese people.
Capturing these “○○ Fuji” mountains through photography could be an interesting challenge in itself.
