ここは香川県三豊市の粟島。詫間町の須田港から船で約15分で到着する島です。瀬戸内海には無人島を含めて約700もの島々が存在すると言われています。それぞれの島には独自の文化があり、暮らしがあり、そして歴史があります。粟島もその一つなのでしょう。
何となく風に誘われるように辿り着いた粟島ですが、どこか懐かしい気持ちになりました。汗ばむ陽気の中、島の道を歩きながら、眺めた風景や感じた風、耳にした波の音。その瞬間ごとの情景が心の中にひとつひとつ刻まれていきました。
先日、FODで「ミステリと言う勿れ」というドラマを見ていたときのことです。物語の中で、漂流郵便局へ手紙を探しに行くシーンがあり、その際にドローンで撮影された島の風景が一瞬映りました。その映像を見た瞬間、「あれ？この道、歩いたことがある気がする」と感じたのです。
ただドラマを楽しんでいただけでしたが、どうにも気になる風景でした。そこで調べてみると、なんとこの粟島がロケ地でした。「そうか、あの道だ、あの日差しだ、あの風だ、あの波の音だ……」と、忘れかけていたあの夏の日が鮮やかに蘇りました。そして、あの長閑な島時間にどっぷりと身を委ねてみたくなりました。
This is Awashima, located in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture. The island can be reached in about 15 minutes by boat from Suda Port in Takuma Town. It is said that the Seto Inland Sea is home to approximately 700 islands, including uninhabited ones. Each island has its own unique culture, way of life, and history, and Awashima is surely one of them.
I found myself on Awashima, as if drawn there by the wind, and it gave me a strangely nostalgic feeling. Walking along the island’s paths in the sweltering heat, I took in the scenery, felt the breeze, and listened to the sound of the waves. Each of those moments etched itself deeply into my heart.
The other day, I was watching the drama Do Not Say Mystery on FOD. There was a scene where the protagonist searches for a letter at the Drift Post Office, and the island’s landscape, filmed with a drone, appeared briefly on screen. The moment I saw that footage, I thought, “Wait, have I walked that road before?”
At the time, I was simply enjoying the drama without any particular thoughts, but the scenery stuck with me. I looked it up and discovered that Awashima was indeed the filming location. “Ah, that road, that sunlight, that breeze, that sound of the waves…” The memories of that summer day, nearly forgotten, came vividly back to life. And once again, I found myself longing to immerse myself in the tranquil island time that Awashima offers.
