ここは、長野県松本市にある標高約1500メートルの山岳景勝地、上高地。朝、飛騨のあかんだな駐車場から始発バスに揺られ、凛とした空気に包まれる上高地に降り立った。焼岳が梓川と共に静かにそびえ、その荘厳さに足を止める。梓川右岸の道を歩き、奥穂高岳や前穂高岳を仰ぎながら岳沢湿原へ。陽が差し込み、水面から霧が立ち上る様子は、時が止まったような静寂があった。
やがてたどり着いた明神池。澄んだ水面が木々を映し、深い青が広がる。自然が長い時間をかけて創り出したこの世界に、ただ息を呑む。13時過ぎ、河童橋に戻ると観光客で賑わう景色。バスで帰路につき、ふと振り返ると、変わらず静かに佇む山々が目に映った。人々の営みと、変わらぬ自然。その対比が心に深く残る上高地だった。
This is Kamikochi, a mountainous scenic area in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters. In the morning, I took the first bus from the Akandana parking lot in Hida and arrived in Kamikochi, wrapped in crisp, cool air. Mount Yake stood quietly alongside the Azusa River, its majestic presence stopping me in my tracks. I walked along the right bank of the Azusa River, gazing up at Mount Okuhotaka and Mount Maehotaka as I made my way toward the Dakesawa Wetlands. The sunlight pierced through, and a gentle mist began to rise from the water’s surface, creating a stillness as if time itself had stopped.
Eventually, I reached Myojin Pond. Its crystal-clear surface reflected the surrounding trees, and a deep blue spread across its expanse. This world, shaped over countless years by nature, left me breathless. Returning to Kappa Bridge around 1 p.m., the scenery had transformed into a bustling scene filled with tourists. As I boarded the bus back to Akandana, I glanced back to see the mountains still standing quietly, unchanged. The contrast between human activity and the unchanging nature left a profound impression on my visit to Kamikochi.
